Glad to hear that UA got in touch and will try to help you out here. This is a fairly serious problem (some regulatory issues) so it's great that UA is working to fix them.

You're deliberately loading yourselves into a tiny aluminum tube that gets violently propelled via explosives into a region of space far beyond what humans can inhabit, voluntarily spending many hours over a vast ocean, drinking pre-mixed Mai Tais, strapped into seats so that stray wind doesn't cause you to crack your skull, fully aware that if anything goes wrong with the two or three people in charge of this machine your chances of survival are nil … and the V fare is the dangerous part?
(I mean, okay, on a per-passenger-mile basis, this trip is way safer than driving, but when are you gonna drive to Hawaii?)
