well I also look at it like this with turbulence. Id rather have them err on the side of caution. Id rather have them err on the side of caution rather than have someone crack their head open by bouncing off the over head stowage and have to divert to SMF on the way to PDX from LAX for a medical emergency even though mainly they do it for CYA. Ive never been diverted for a medical emergency nor do I ever want to be. Came close on a flight to Hawaii, some guy was having symptoms like a heart attack and we were about half way to Hawaii but still closer to the mainland. They paged for any medical staff onboard etc, we had a paramedic on board a pyschological doctor and about 3 nurses...turned out they were just having an anxiety panic from flying so we continued on
