Flew LAX-PDX yesterday and the captain mentioned to the FA's prior to takeoff of light to moderate turbulence and was going to have the seat belt sign on for a good portion of the flight (was in row 1 and heard the conversation). Had a brief announcement prior to take off as well.

There was never any turbulence at all and seat belt sign was off from cruising altitude until approach.
