Good thought, but as the post above mine indicates, it won't work unless you buy all the VRs in a single calendar year, attaining 110K+ WN. You could then feed those into BB at the rate of $5000 a month (each) to cash out, over 2 years, but of course approximately no one would ever do that.
Could conceivably work in a year if you can run 2 BBs.
Alternative would be gradually to accumulate points that can be dumped into RR at the moment of your choosing. Examples would be:
1. Amtrak (if elite or you have their CC)
2. Diners Club (no longer issued at last report, but grandfathered in) at the rate of 1200 WN per 1500 Diners
3. Choice Privileges 1800 WN per 6000 Choice
4. Ultimate Rewards, only if laundered through Hyatt or Marriott, taking a haircut along the way
5. Wyndham
6. etc.
Promos like Daily Getaways can be good for this. Also grabbing a WN Visa card to have points post in January.
My method in previous years has been to accumulate whatever points I can if I see an opportunity, whenever, and dump together.
Of course, a year is an eternity in this game, and WN could change the rules any time.
