Does Phuket have a reputation for being a backpacker haven? I know there are lots of backpackers that make it to Phuket, but when speaking to a luxury travel writer who primarily travels Europe and America, she, as well as her legion of fans (primarily Europe/UK/Americas), were surprised about the high level of luxury accomodation available in Phuket.

They were not entirely aware that such serenity existed in Phuket, and were of the opinion that it was extremely crowded and not really a place you want to go to 'relax'.
