Thanks for the reply, however I am fully aware of the date formats.
It is a glitch. When I select a day from the calendar then the next page says date not valid. as we all know there are not 31 months, it gives an error. I don't know maybe you use .co.uk and that doesn't have the issue. But it happens frequently on ba.com (some of the entry boxes use mm/dd and some seem to prefer the opposite). This occurs with the avios search function that is on the left side of the page, the area where you have to select 'pay with avios' from the dropdown. Quite frustrating. I called the 800 number every 5 minutes for close to 2 hours without it picking up once (yesterday from about 3-5pm est), I made several other calls in between so its not an issue with my phone. The regular non-avios customer service number just advised me to 'wait 1-2 hours then call back' as they could not do anything, nor could their supervisors.
I clearly clicked day 3 under 'february' and the next page it says 3/2 (british format), after clicking through assuming its just the date format in british it booked the ticket for March 2. I guess its doubly important to double check as the website is not perfect.
Under the '24 hr cooling period' they were finally able to correct it. Also, if you want to call and the US offices are closed (or forever not answering) you can call a different country's number and they should take care of you. Might be worth the charges to make such an international call.
