There seem to be 2 components - the Corporate ID (9 digits) and the Rate Code (like 6BARC). I notice that when I do a search anywhere in the world with my corporate ID, I get a fixed percentage discount at any IHG hotel, for example, with the IC London, I get a fixed percentage of the BAR, with the negotiated conditions (fully flexible, etc.) - even for arrival next Monday (which of course makes it somewhat better than the best publicly available rate). My contract makes no mention of this benefit - I assume that it is an IHG-wide discount for my company. Has anyone experienced this before, and are there any known restrictions? I assume that it is the rate code (currently not fully functional) that gives the specific benefit/rate at the hotel with which I negotiated the discount.

I also notice that the rate comes up as "COMPANY NAME GOLD" - does this imply a certain level or discount/benefit? Are there other levels?

Feel free to PM if you'd rather not discuss publicly. I'm quite interested to understand exactly how this new rate works from those who have been in a similar situation.
Corporate GOLD rates are the common standard, not really anything special or out of the ordinary for you company.

If Google you get GOOGLE GOLD, Barclays BARCLAYS GOLD, FMC FORD MOTOR COMPANY GOLD etc etc , and fyi GOLD is typically 15% discount on the Flex Rate, and typically is terms "cancelable until 4pm day of arrival OR 6pm day before etc)

If booking at short nortice when ADR is sold out or discontinued then Company 15% rate is then best you'll get, otherwise ADR is cheaper but non-cancelable.

Some company have extra perks at some hotels eg text includes 'Free Internet' 'Breakfast Included' too , maybe negotiated locally with a hotel. I think the hotel you went to just added you to standard corporate GOLD 15% discount list of companies at IHG worldwide level.
