You have that right.
JQ HK troubles aside the Australia-HKSAR bitlateral only allows Australian airlines daily flights to LHR, 1 other UK destination and 1 other destination so HKG cannot be an efective hub for an Australian airline. That is why SIN was a better option for an Australian airline hub.
