The T&Cs do not seem to use the description of up to a year. Looking at the T&Cs at http://www.emirates.com/english/skyw...mme-rules.aspx it states for a Flex reward

Maximum Stay : 12 months
Ticket Validity : Journey must commence within 12 months of ticket issuance
Date changes : Free

I cannot see a term that states that there is a restriction that travel has to complete within 12 months, only that the travel must commence within 12 months of ticket issuance
