Interesting behind the scenes info. It's so much better to research their design and tweak out the problems before hundreds of rooms get built with the same annoying issues. I often wonder "What were they thinking" in some of my hotel stays. Love the fact about the detailed questionnaire taking hours to fill out. This is more time than I have ever spent completing a hotel post-stay survey. I seldom mention room design problems because the likelihood of it having an effect is low...but then again I have never stayed at a Peninsula property.
