I used my license to carry ID about 7 years ago just for orneriness while checking my bag. The agent pushed it back at me THREE TIMES saying "I need your driver's license". She finally called over a supervisor who barely looked at it and let me go.

However......I was pulled over for a closer check of my carry-on going and coming back. I pack the very same items in it.

Coincidence?

The DMV told me I could use an expired driver's license....really? Luckily my new one came in time but just to check what I was told I showed the expired one. She said I would be pulled over for further scrutiny unless I had a current one. This too was when I was checking a bag.
