And I get bending the rules and how it may appear inconsistent especially given the old mentality of don't like it write to the CEO and we will throw you some miles.
In theory I get the line of thinking that "I paid for this seat/upgrade/etc and am entitled to said beverage/meal/hot towel if I don't want it send it to someone I designate." If I am stuck in Y with spouse/travel partner/etc in F its great that they might send me some leftovers etc after clearing it with the FA. But it seems we are seeing a lot of these threads pop up lately and maybe the difference now is that FAs are starting to enforce the actual policies. I think the manual says seat change done "discretely". Truth be told regarding the booze, it is a rule "only alcohol served by crewmembers consumed on board", not someone who takes it upon themselves to walk back cocktails. Its a huge liability on the airline because you know someone will file a lawsuit that the airline served them too much liquor and they went flying off a cliff when in reality it was someone else handing drinks back to them that caused them to become intoxicated.
Sure it seems made up to spout off some "rule" but at what point do you draw the line? Someone in F doesn't want a blanket, send it to wife in Y. Someone in F doesn't want cookie, walk it back to my kid in Y. Someone in F doesn't need the seat cushion send it back to random person. And when FA's say no, people are getting their panties in a wad because they think its unfair that there is a conga line back and forth between F/Y.
