Definitely check the Himeji castle website before planning any visit. My understanding is that for some period during the removal of scaffolding the main buildings will be off limits. Then, I believe there will be a period when you can see the castle buildings from the outside but not enter. You want to be aware of what you're actually going to visit and see before you go.
