I don't think there's a "right" answer to this question. Some people think spinners carry a higher risk of damage if you check them in. On the other hand, they are probably easier to manoeuvre. But not on European cobblestone streets. . I'm not a big fan of duffels myself because they don't suit my packing style. YMMV.
