No carrier has an international hub in ADL and there is not enough traffic for QF to make one work there.
Other international carriers fly to ADL from their hubs, this has very different economics. For example, one flight ADL-HKG on Cathay can connect to many different flights to many destinations. QF couldn't compete.
Other carriers/countries are similar, with the "national carrier" flying from fewer cities than international competition.
