It would have been lovely for it to remain a freestanding and unadulterated building, but the choice between having it used as part of hotel or getting destroyed/dilapidated - there isn't much choice.

I think some of the new airline terminals are quite grand, Madrid Barajas comes to mind, but then some are new and just pleasant in their corporate blandness like San Jose's new terminal.
