I just stayed at the JW Marquis on business from 1/21 to 1/25 and wanted to give a quick review/trip report on our experience:

1. Check-In -- went smooth for me. No upgrades available. No NS King rooms available, and because it was around 11:30PM...I wasn't going to wait for one. OTOH, it was a disaster for one of my employees. He (also Gold) got redirected to the Priority Check-In. He was willing to wait for a NS King. Was told 45 minutes. Hour later, he checks on status. Told it should only be another "10 minutes". 30 minutes later, he checks again. Told it is still not ready, and the Lounge Agent can't check on options because "her computer is down". As it is 1AM, he heads downstairs to figure something out. After about 20 minutes of discussion amongst 4 different staff members, they finally find him a room. A manager catches up to him on the way up, apologizing profusely. After some impressive negotiation, my employee gets a nice cache of points as compensation.

2. Meeting Rooms -- I hosted a 3 day meeting at this hotel and the meeting rooms were very very good. Nice spacious room. Fast Internet access. Quality LCD screens for PC display. Crazy amounts of food and beverages delivered throughout the day, all of which were good tasting (can offer specifics if interested). Very reasonable rate as well...comparable to most off-site meeting sites in the Chicago suburbs (my rule of thumb). Only glitch is we needed a conference phone on Friday and they couldn't get it working in the room. We ended up with an iPhone propped up on a box.

3. Food and Lounges -- Only restaurant we went to was District 6 -- the buffet. Breakfast was included in room rate and lunch included in Meeting Rate. Everything was good there and the choice (like that of any Asia Marriott I've been to) is not short of overwhelming. Executive Lounge was nice and I agree it is the biggest one I've ever been to. OTOH, the space is needed because it got very, very crowded every time we went. We went to Vault for drinks most nights for drinks. Expensive, but not unusual for a hotel lounge. They were good drinks for the price and the view couldn't be beat. I found it amusing that a Elijah Craig Manhattan at $12.50 was half the price of a glass of Woodbridge swill wine at $25.00.

4. Room and Service -- Mixed bag here. I enjoyed my room even though it was the "two single" set up. It was more like nearly the size of a double and the mattress was one of the most comfortable I've had in a hotel. Funny nit about the service -- the maid threw out of my contact lens case caps because it was the same color blue as the bottled water caps in the room. Luckily it was on the last day. However, it was not nearly so good for another of my employees who had an iPad stolen out of his backpack in his room on the last day while we were out shopping and sightseeing (yes..he knows he should've used the room safe, but still...). We're waiting to hear from hotel security on their investigation.

All in all, while it was a mixed bag experience...I will likely go back for future meetings/trips in the area because of the experience, reasonable price, and convenient location for my local employees.

Let me know if there are any other specific questions I can answer.
