My only gripe about the service here is that supposedly, as platinum (with free breakfast), we were told that the "free breakfast" can only be in the lounge but was able to get around it.

I don't know how this is supposed to be handled but some properties let us choose between lounge breakfast or breakfast buffet, and a few others limit plats to the lounge. I never tested it until last month.

Are the hotels allowed to literally patronize platinum benefit by giving a watered down version of the breakfast in the "VIP Lounge" ?

I stayed here for 2 weeks in September/October. I couldn't decide whether I liked or disliked it.

Like:
As a platinum member I got the choice of breakfast in the lounge or in the main restaurant (don't know why you didn't, maybe there's been a policy change since then)

Very good Chinese restaurant on premises

Even though the property was fully booked, they somehow managed to find rooms for me and 3 other colleagues to extend our stay beyond the original departure date (I imagine being platinum helped)

Staff in the lounge helped me scan 50+ pages of brochures

Dislike:
Room service was extremely slow- my colleagues and I were working from our room (4 of us) and we each ordered 1 dish each. Menu promises delivery in 30 minutes or order is free. Order took 1 hour. When we tried to invoke the 30 mins or free guarantee we were told that we had "ordered too much" and they wouldn't be honoring the promise. I asked them where it said in the terms or conditions what the maximum order could be. The room service guy called his manager who told me (more or less) to not be difficult and pay up. I talked to another manager who said she'd see what she could do. They didn't call me back after that so I assume the matter was settled (no charge was levied in the end, but come on, is it so hard to enforce a promise?) Obviously if we ordered 10 items each I wouldn't expect them to meet 30 minutes, but first it took 1 hour and second we only had 1 item each. And it was around 11pm, hardly peak hour.

Loud banging coming from inside the hotel woke me up at 7am on both the first and second day. first day assumed it was a once off and didnt complain. second day complained to the manager and was moved to a really nice suite on the other side of the building (originally i had been given a high floor "upgrade" room).
