I just remembered another unique feature of the building.

At one time the security level as raised for a year or so, so that everyone in the entire building and not only passengers had to go through a security check similar to todays carry on check but it also included suitcases.

As there was no vestibule or open areas after the doors ( see my previous post) they actually put the screening machines at the doors and the screening was done partly inside and partly outside. This with no regard to rain, cold etc.
