Well, now I know. It works great. Lenovo Access Connections (which is so much less bloated than it used to be, and now allows you to install with just WWAN support rather than wifi et al), found the Tmobile account and all worked smoothly.

How do I get 200 free MB/month, if you have the time....

We are pleased to inform you that there is a 4G, next generation replacement service which is expected to become available in Spring 2014 coming from Lenovo, powered by Macheen.
You will automatically be notified when the new enhanced service is available in your region and there will be a promotion to all current subscribers who sign up for the new 4G service.
The service will not work at all further than that date but will resume in Spring 2014 when we have the new solution in place and we are extremely excited about the new service and we are working very hard to get it up and running as soon as possible with as less impact on our customers as possible.
The downtime depends on the country you are located in, and for the US, the downtime is estimated until the end of February 2014.
We chose to have this downtime as we are completely rebuilding the entire infrastructure from the ground up in order to make it work with the latest technologies.
