for a us airways card i was offered:

1) 1x extra points for i think gas, groceries, and utilities for 3 months, capped at 8K bonus points
2) 1x extra points for >$250 spend a statement for i think 3 months also capped at 8K points
3) 2.5K pts for $500 spend within 3 months but supposedly pts will post 4-6 weeks after promotional period. was told if i called in to expedite pts processing it would happen quicker after i met the spend.

went with option #3. no waiver of AF. minimal use with this card, <$500.
