How do I do it? I tried using BA.com and its a big fail since it tells me SAN-OGG is not a valid route.
I can do this online or do I have to call a BA rep?
How many Avios points will I use up - am I better off paying the $530-610 fare vs using the points? I'm trying to save my Avios points for a trip to Europe this summer or later.
For Avios redemptions on AS, you must call BAEC. The ba.com website only supports redemptions on oneworld carriers.
Only the very-lowest-tier AS award seats are available for Avios redemption. The cost of a one-way nonstop from the West Coast to Hawaii on either AA or AS is 12,500 Avios in Coach.
If AS' lowest-tier award seats are available, they will show up on a (partners-included) award search on aa.com; if the AS flights do not show up on such a search, you will not be able to obtain those flights with Avios.
