I have a question, and your thoughts on a recent trip. I was flying YOW-YYZ-YYC in J, with no checked luggage. I was getting late for Ottawa airport, so used my mobile phone to get my online boarding pass, which was scanned by CATSA to clear security. When I entered the YOW MLL, I asked the agent to print my two BPs (YOW-YYZ and YYZ-YYC) and they gladly did it.
When I was boarding the YOW-YYZ flight, I gave the agent the paper BP (that was printed by the MLL agent), and my driver's license (the exact same DL I have been using for 3 years). The GA scanned my BP, and asked me step aside, and she kept on boarding the other 100 or so people. When done, she asked me "where is your passport?". I told her I don't need a passport, as I am only traveling domestic. She said "you are right", noted my seat number, and said "go ahead"
Of course, the plane is full, and no place to put my bag.
For the YYZ-YYC flight, I gave the GA my BP and DL...looked at it and a red alert appeared. He looked again, and said "go ahead"
So I am wondering...why I was asked for a passport? Should I have not asked the MLL agent to print my BP? I don't feel comfortable passing my phone to various officials, and on top of that my battery was low.
Thoughts please
There were reports of an IT issue on Friday with Res III asking for passport data incorrectly.
