Getting from Lower Manhattan to JFK for 8.30pm flight
OK, title says a lot...

Will be 2 adults and 3 kids with minimal luggage.

Any thoughts on the best way to get from that end of town to the airport? Will a car take forever? Will the MTA be packed? Given the number of passengers, the cost aspect is less relevant.

This is a Monday afternoon/evening.
