P.S. While Kimpton as a chain tries to make each hotel a bit 'quirky,' I would categorize the quality level of the ones I've seen as even below upscale.
You want to move it out of this forum because not all properties are luxury and at the same time you want to move it to the California forum when all properties are not in California. Odd.
It seems clear to me that the OP is looking to stay at luxury properties. The only instances where she is considering something else is where true luxury is not available (or where her circumstances prevent her from staying at such a property).
I think this is a normal occurrence when one is travelling to multiple destinations in one trip (especially when some destinations are not served by 'true' luxury properties). I think this thread has made for interesting reading and reflects what many 'luxury travelers' go through when they are trying to plan such a trip.
