AMEX.com Platinum Card Reviews

With the recent changes to lounge access, I’ve not only viewed comments on FT, but also American Express’ own website. Each card (or it seems most cards) have a star rating and reviews associated with them on americanexpress.com. I noticed the overall star rating on the Platinum card has gone down from 4.5 stars to 4 with the underlying rating for benefits being 4.

Last week, I did a test and went through a few pages and thought to myself, since the beginning of December, only two posts have reflected positive statements. The rest have all been on the negative side with the recent devaluations. 5 pages of reviews covered about two months’ worth.

However, I looked at it today, and the first 15 pages of reviews are all from January 23rd. While there is a mix of reviews, there are also a decent amount of 5 star posts with one line comments in there. I’m never the conspiracy theorist, but I’m wondering if something was done to place the string of negative comments further away.

Like I said, there is a still a widespread mix of reviews, but it just seemed odd how all of a sudden, an extra 75 reviews were posted (and some of them seem to be duplicate posts).
