Hey guys,

I am utterly and completely new to car rental programs. In fact, at this point, I don't even have a Hertz account, yet. So far, when I've travel, I always travel either to a city with good public transportation (London) or to visit friends and family, where I'm always given a car to borrow. So now, I find myself making arrangements for my honeymoon, and I have a lot of learning to do.

Basics: We're planning to stay on Kauai from 6/23/14 - 7/5/14. We have no loyalty relationship with any car company, but I am a AAA member, and their partnership with Hertz has quoted me the lowest rates I've seen yet--although I might just not know how to look. They're showing $298 / Compact, $319 / Intermediate, $321 / Standard, and $334 / FS. My fiance and I obviously don't need a huge car, but we don't want to be cramped either (I'm 6'2).

Insurance: I've seen a lot about AMEX's insurance offer as well as the Citi's Thank You Premier card. I hold: AMEX SPG and Hilton, Citi Premier and Prestige, and Chase CSP and United. My lean is to go with AMEX's insurance, but I don't want to double cover myself for no reason.

Is there anything I should be doing to put myself in a better position for this rental in June?
