Taking transit is a nice civic goal, and it's usually much cheaper than private transportation, but it doesn't work so well when you're traveling outside of the grid lines and time ranges the transit system is designed to serve. If you put any monetary value on your time and frustration, just take a shared-ride van. If you put a lot of value on your time and frustration, hire a private car service.
