Snow stops play....
Arrived pretty much on time into ORD. Didn't look like too bad a queue for immigration, but was directed to the slowest operator ever. 5 minutes per person meant standing in line for half an hour whilst the other lines raced through (well, relatively speaking of course). Still, plenty of time to recheck the bag and get to T3. AA agent looked at her watch and said I had just missed the opportunity to get an earlier flight.
Spent a relaxing hour in the Flagship lounge. Assured that my flight was still on time when I left the lounge. By the time I got to the gate it had been cancelled. Many other flights also cancelled due to the weather. Now cursing the missed opportunity to catch the earlier flight. No chance of getting to final destination tonight.
Agent in main Admirals lounge (close to the gate) booked me on a flight out of ORD in the morning, and put me on standby for a later flight tonight. I had a wander to terminal 2 (nothing better to do), and rebooked the onward Delta flight for tomorrow.
Now back in the Flagship lounge, where the lovely dragon after lots of keyboard rattling has got me a seat on tonight's flight. Let's hope that's not cancelled too.
Apologies if I'm waffling and this has turned into a mini trip report, but I've got nothing better to do other than drink the Sam Adams.
Have to say that since reaching Gold last year, this is the first time I've appreciated any significant benefit. The airport is full of grumpy souls having missed flights, the Admirals club is packed, and yet the Flagship lounge is an oasis of calm. I also doubt I would have got a seat on tonight's flight without OWE and the friendly staff here in the Flagship lounge.
