Further to my comments above, Virgin have today released another domestic sale, with flights between SYD or MEL and Hamilton Island $129 April to June. If your dates aren't fixed, I would wait and see if they release another sale covering your dates in the next or month or two. Based on history, they should.
Edit: Jetstar are currently also offering $99 for the same, until mid September.
