They've done away with the red/green trafic light. Now everyone's luggage gets scanned. Funnily enough it doesn't seem to take any extra time.
The immigration situation (both in and out) seems to be highly unpredictable. Sometime very bad, sometimes a breeze. I guess the key variable is the number of open desks for the given time of day. But you just have to be prepared for the worst and be happy when it's OK. Still with a wait until a domestic flight at 5.30am, I'm not sure that I wouldn't see a 1+ hour immigration delay as being at least a marginal benefit. It's not as if it would be reducing time on a Sumaq recliner as that lounge won't be accessible.
