I'd probably still pick the most convenient schedule. I'd probably pay $40 to avoid an unneeded connection or for a couple of hours less to kill if the hard product is comparable (which I think it is, slight edge to US possibly because of 1-2-1 over 2-2-2, but I'd fly the 748 if it was more convenient). Business class is about 1) adequate hard product and 2) convenience, not about the brand of champagne, IMO. That's what first class is for, making sure you can lord it over the peasants...
