Rental car is $90+ per day whereas it appears 3 bus/train rides into Oslo round-trip would also come to about $90. Thus its a wash - but if there is a parking fee that may sway our decision to not pick up the car until the morning.

Parking at Scandic Gardermoen is 110 NOK/24h, for Park Inn you need to use Europark (usual airport parking) from 180 NOK outside to 360 NOK inside.

Or why not stay for the night downtown Oslo and pick up the rental car there?
(Airport Express train 170 NOK, ordinary train (NSB) 90 NOK)
Drive all the way to Bergen, must be for the scenic route otherwise a short flight is cheeper and 6-7 hours faster...
