Also how many hours do we need for Vatican City? and is it usually best to go early morning or after 1pm?
Any ideas for Valentine's day ? Should we stay in Florence or definitely spend that day in Verona ?

Switzerland is too much in my opinion. Verona is skippable until you have seen some of the more major sites in Rome, Venice, Florence, and want to branch out to the secondary cities. At most, if it's just sightseeing, Verona warrants only a half a day. Siena is a good place to see for an afternoon in Tuscany. Very beautiful, nicer than Verona. A car is only needed if you want to drive to small towns in Tuscany. Otherwise, a car is a major pain in the neck. I agree with what everyone else says; it's better to go to two or three towns and soak them in, hang out in the piazza's and drink a bottle of wine. Spending all of your time driving around, looking for a place to park, is not what Italy is really about. Vatican city is about seeing seeing St. Peter's, and the Vatican Museum. Although you can't see most things in the museum in a week, you can see all of the major things there in one day. If Romeo and Juliet is playing into your thinking about Verona, I'd rethink that. There is nothing particularly romantic there. Juliet's balcony is a fake tourist trinket spot. Five minutes there, and you'll want out.
