Cruise Liner Comparisons

Thinking about the possibility of hopping on a cruise later this year or early next year. South Pacific, preferably sailing away from Brisbane (Down Under) to nowhere in particular. As a first timer, the options all look much the same to me, but I suppose there must be some differences?

Is there much difference between the various cruise lines? That is; Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Carnival, and P&O? What are the pros and cons of each?

Now, Bora Bora and the like are obviously notable places and popular with many folks here. But seeing that our options are for little over a week, leaving from Brisbane, on the relative cheap, can you recommend any places? I'm sure they all have a little something nice of their own to enjoy, but what of Īle des pins, Noumea, Fiji or Vanuatu? My only experience of the Pacific is Papua New Guinea, which I believe is certainly a little different, to say the least...

Also, I'm thinking the cheapest option, as the cabin would just be for sleeping and I can always find a place elsewhere on the ship if I want to open up a favourite book and chillax a while. But, what's your opinion on the differences (pros and cons) of an interior vs the slightly more upgraded 'ocean view' cabins? Ta in advance!
