It would be helpful to know from Mileage Plan if some partner airlines need zeros in front of the AS number in order to be recognized by their systems. I've seen discussions about this before but no definitive answers.
There are 7 in mine but many years ago it used to be 8 with a "0" in front, hence my thought to try adding the "0".
