Did you find that you have to put the bag into the overhead lockers horizontally (which obviously I want to avoid), or do they fit in normally with wheels to back?

Of course I understand that it will vary by airline and aircraft. I'm more concerned about short haul flights rather than long haul, especially if in a Y seat.
