Thanks all. Although I will get AA to book me on the later flight, I'd still be interested to know whether I would have been left to my own devices if I had missed the connection when I was under the MCT. (I'm sure my insurer would take that view if I tried claiming, but I know from past experience that AA is usually much more accommodating.)
