When I replaced my PC, I copied files to a USB drive first. Then I ripped the old hard drive and went at it with a large hammer but the SOB was one tough well made box. I put it under my car tire and about 3 or 4 passes the case disintegrated. Then I held the optical disc over fire on the cooking stove till it became red hot and then doused it in the wash basin. All the above to prevent identity theft but its a whole lot of stress relief as well.
