I might be flying NYC-DXB in February. Emirates obviously has the best flight schedule and prices (and the only direct flights). If I book through Qantas on a codeshare, can I earn AA EQMs on the flight?

I'd much prefer to fly direct than have to connect through LHR on BA. thanks!
