Indeed, the point of GUF2 as far as I understand it is to encourage its use for leisure travel rather than work travel where it might impact revenue. It is also worth noting that the GUF2 offer rate presumably includes the calculation of the part of it that is 'wasted' by recipients. If it was replaced by GUF1s and those were wasted less, then the immediate implication is that the offer rate would become less generous. On that basis and on the whole, I believe that BA's choice is not a bad one.
