Best hotel for Central Park and Statue of Liberty

Hi,

OK, am bringing the family (2 adults, 3 young kids) to NYC for about 24hrs, squeezing in a free stopover on a Sunday night at the end of April

We land at LGA around 10pm, then fly out of JFK at 8.30pm the next day.

I'm thinking of what we can get done in that time. Central Park Zoo (the kids are big fans of the Madagascar movie franchise) and the Statue of Liberty (possibly just from the Staten Island Ferry) would be two on the must-do list, with either the Empire State Building or Rockefeller Centre and Toys R Us at Times Square (or maybe FAO Shwartz) on the maybes list, too.

I just think we probably need to be quite smart about the planning, especially as we'll be heading back to JFK in the rush hour. Two places I've spied so far are the Radisson Martinique or the Millennium Hilton, based on the fact I can use points (even on a Sunday night this seems like good value...)

We would then do Monday from North to South. The Zoo from 10-12, Skyscraper 12.30-2pm, leave Toys R Us by 3pm, SI ferry & back by 4.30pm, into hotel to collect bags and back to the airport, probably by LIRR if staying at the Radisson or MTA from the Hilton? Feasible?

Thanks
