There is no "boss lady" or "boss guy" on an AA flight - there is a Purser, who has no supervisory authority. Some would say this is part of the problem; AA bargained away the right to have a supervisory position on board.
IMO what you got was a more experienced, knowledgeable FA (working in F) who fixed the seat, and a less caring or even burned out FA as your cabin FA - and possibly like-minded Business cabin colleagues (that's easy - sometimes friends will bid on the same flights so they can socialize and enjoy known company; this in itself can be good, unless they share values that include work avoidance and a lack of understanding the health of their employer depends to some extent on their actions).
