I don't think so. I used my dad's AE acct (he has no status on AC) to book since he has >30k points for 2 PAX. Both YYZ-LGA RT AE reward tix were booked as FLEX X.

However, there was a similar reward booking that I made prior to 2014 and one tix was FLEX W the other was TANGO A shown on AC.com. So I'm not sure what changes AC has made since 2014.
