I got my first hint in Miami Jan 8 when transiting on AA flights. I walked into an Admirals club and handed them my Lifetime USAIR card and the first thing she did was try and scan it. Of course that didn't work since the card was issued way before they developed scanning. Within seconds she typed in the USAIR number and presto I was invited in with a welcome aboard.
This suggest to me that the computers have merged the lounge membership lists
On a second somewhat related subject I thought I would test the system in SJO (Costa Rica) I asked at J check-in if there was a lounge I could use. They advised/confirmed that AA had no lounge at that airport but that there was a general lounge that might allow me if I met their entrance criteria.
SO off I went to gate 4 area and stood there reading all the airline cards that were allowed. Since USAIR was on the list I handed them my USAIR card and they then asked to see my boarding pass and stated since I'm not flying on USAIR they could not permit me. I argued that there was no longer a USAIR to be on since they had merged their flights with AA (a strectch I agree).
The answer was still no entry but maybe in May
I suspect it all has to do with back billing against a contract still in force. I post this just for info in case it helps anybody.
I am being told, that they will honor our Lifetime memberships. This makes sense, because Doug also did this when he merged the America West Lifetime Club memberships into US Airways.
