You can fly to Koh Chang now ? Trat & BKK Air I assume. that'll be no bargain. You could rent a car or van, but it'll take 5 hrs to get to KC. Finding a cheap flight to Phuket or Krabi is an option, just don't stay in Patong. There are a couple nice islands off of Pattaya - Koh Larn & Koh Samet. Koh Larn is easy, 15-40 mins. (fast or slow boat) from the Pattaya Pier. Samet takes a couple hrs. If you're lucky you can get to the pier in a little more 2 hrs from Bangkok. You can get a car & driver to PTY for 1200B and 8 or 900 back to BKK. I've been to Samet not Larn, but the photos look great. IIWY, I'd probably give Larn a shot. LINK: http://kohlarn.com/
