change of gauge means when there is a change of equipment on a paticular sector of the same flight number. eg say flight number 1 has a routing of yyz-yvr-hkg. Where the aircraft on the yyz-yvr is a 767 and on the yvr-hkg sector is a a340. Same flight number but different aircraft on each of the sectors.
