Had an experience like this with my teenage son when he was looking at colleges. He lost his school ID (his only picture ID at the time) on the trip. It took 3 hours (glad we arrived early) of discussion before the TSA authorized him to fly home. They were polite, professional and very thorough. The supervisor who finally gave the go-ahead told me it would make some extra paperwork for him but he took responsibility for the clearance. I thought TSA did a great job and the security screening process was anything but a joke.
It took three hours of discussion because he forgot his ID? Clearly, they were thorough, but professional? Methinks not. Sounds like a big joke to me.
