Illustrated most effectively by EK405 which travels MEL-SIN-DXB. If you take this flight only as far as SIN the surcharge (in Y) will be $165. If you take the flight all the way to DXB the surcharge will be only $155.
Stop obfuscating, YQ is a clearly way for airlines to extract pay,emts from those traveling on award bookings.

With revenue tickets, it is clearly inficated in the fare. With reward bookings, it isn't.

It is clearly a way for airlines to introduce co-payements, without actually having th introduce a co-payment. Instead, it is a "Fuel Surcharge".

They should just accept that that it the way it is, and act accordingly.
