Flying the average European backpacker to India losing a few hundred million a year is (maybe) not one of them. Time will tell how long they are willing to pay for it.
We did some calculations based on the loads ex Germany and it was really fun to see how much they lose in summer. In high season, one could see them break even, but it is still not enough to compensate for the losses from the slower months.
Honestly, I prefer an overbooked LH flight ex MUC to PVG to a 773 flying 100 pax in summer, at least from a financial point of view. @:-)
